Gayle Minnick-Underwood, B.S., M.A., Associate
During Gayle Underwood’s 15 years of experience in Education she has focused on helping students with special needs to use technology to be able to communicate and to participate more fully in school. She has worked as a Speech and Language Pathologist with students who have Severe and Multiple Impairments, as an Assistive Technology Coordinator with students who have special needs and most recently as the Technology Integration Consultant for the Allegan Area Education Service Agency (AAESA) in Allegan, Michigan. Gayle has consulted in schools all over Michigan and around the world including Kuwait where she worked with the staff at the Khalifa School in Kuwait City to help them implement Assistive Technology with their students.

Recently, through her involvement with the Michigan’s Integrated Technology Supports (MITS) initiative in the Universal Design for Learning approach for Michigan’s schools, her work expanded in learning the theory and practice of the science of Structured Dialogic Design (SDD). She has teamed with Dr. Alexander N. Christakis, one of the founders of SDD, to create a Virtual Structured Dialogic Design Process that has been helping groups of stakeholders from different walks of life to come to consensus regarding complex issues. This process is particularly suitable for listening concurrently to the authentic voices of such relevant stakeholders as parents, teachers, administrators, consultants, as well as students with special needs in a group setting for the purpose of designing effective learning and teaching strategies for all students.

Gayle is responsible for designing and implementing virtual SDD platforms for such challenging issues as building peace and contributing to the reunification of the Turkish and Greek communities in the island of Cyprus. Recently she collaborated with the Americans for Indian Opportunity (AIO) and the Advancement of Maori Opportunity (AMO) in designing a virtual Indigenous Leaders Interactive System (ILIS) that will become a critical tool in enhancing the interaction and communication among indigenous people at the global scale all over the planet.

In the Information Age, all of us have special needs when it comes to our capacity to dialogue on learning how to address complex matters affecting our lives and the lives of other citizens. Gayle’s career is dedicated to supporting people from all walks of life through the use of modern technology tools in fulfilling people’s special needs for the practice of participative democracy.

Ms. Maria Kakoulaki is an active Journalist and her experience includes all types of media, (i.e. Press, Radio Production, Web Publishing, TV Production, News Broadcasting). She has participated in several European Conferences Seminars and Workshops on topics related to human rights, racism, discrimination, gender equality and media technologies. Her academic background includes inter-disciplinary subjects such as Psychology, Media Culture and Communication, Media Arts & Philosophy, Creative Entrepreneurship and she is currently a student at the Greek Open University at the department of Greek Culture and Aesthetics.

She is an active blogger [[www.leregardcretois.blogspot.com]], and through her blog that is called “Le Regard Democratique” she is trying to establish an interactive platform of dialogue and continuous thinking on the current predicament as well as an opportunity of deconstructing representational models and ideas and reconstructing meaning. All her work, writings and publications are focusing in searching of the truth that includes everyone and has no space for any type of exclusion, based on Systemic Democratic Dialogue and Social Networking. ==Biography==

Dr. Assimakopoulos is a Professor of the Department of Informatics at the University of Piraeus, Greece. His research interests include Systemic Methodologies, Systems Approaches to Management and Informatics, Dynamic Simulation Systems, Information Systems, Workflow Systems, Virtual Enterprises and Applied Operations Research Techniques. He has been lecturing at Chelsea College, University of London, England, and at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece. He served as consultant of the British Post Office and of the Agricultural Bank of Greece, and also holds the professional title FOR of the British Operational Research Society.

He has published over 100 papers in refereed journals, 120 papers in conference proceedings and has participated in about 130 conferences with papers. Also, he is Associate Editor in five international journals and reviewer in 12 well-known journals which are associated with the four International Societies where he serves as active member. Dr. Assimakopoulos is the inventor of the Design and Control Systemic Methodology (DCSYM)<ref>Int. J. of Applied Systemic Studies, 2009 Vol.2, No.3, pp.193 – 217</ref>, and of the STIMEVIS multi-systemic methodology, Human Systems Management <ref>vol 19 (2000), 61-69</ref>.

Dr. Nikitas Assimakopoulos is a member of the Board of Advisors <ref>[http://www.globalast.org/board-of-advisors.html </ref> which is the governing body of the Global Association for Systems Thinking (GAST). They provide the senior leadership, expertise, and wise-counsel to enhance the success of the Association. Advisory Board Members are leaders the Systems Thinking field.

Dr. Assimakopoulos has organized International and National Conferences (last one: www.2014.hsss.eu) and is the founder and elected President of the Hellenic Society for Systemic Studies (HSSS) (www.hsss.eu). He is the founder and the coordinator of the first internationally Post-Graduate Professional Program of Certified Systemic Analyst Professional (CSAP) with ISO/IEC 17024 (www.csap.gr) which is supported by the HSSS and offers governmental administration credits for the public clerks. The CSAP Program operates through the University of Piraeus - Research Center in Greece and a number of experts from the international community of systems approach present their professional work in it via a live e-learning software. Due to the professional character of the Program, 60 Consulting and Informatics very well-known Companies present their software, their successful projects and they try pick up CSAP members for their professional work.

Dr. Assimakopoulos has been invited frequently to give talks at national and international conferences and research organisations. He is the founder and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Systemic Studies (IJASS) published by Inderscience Publishers.
