Lina Maria is also a Core participant in the American Initiative.

Lina Maria is from Colombia. She has a BA in Political Science and two master degrees: International Studies from the University of Barcelona in Spain (2007-2008), and an MSC in International Development from Bristol University in the UK (2012-2013). She has been awarded by Colombian government with the Colfuturo Scholarship Program in 2011 and also was awarded by the British government with the Chevening scholarship programme in 2012. In 2015 she was awarded by the International Cooperation Agency of Korea –KOICA- as scholar in a short-time training course for the creation of self-reliant local communities.

During the last 8 years Lina Maria has worked in her country with different international organizations as well as governmental entities on issues related to human development, armed conflict, and inclusive economic development projects as peace-building mechanisms. Her experience as knowledge management specialist was obtained while she was working with the United Nations Development Programme at regional and national level, since where she contributed to develop methodologies, tools and strategies oriented to identify, disseminate and sharing knowledge around developmental and international cooperation areas and stakeholders.

At the present time Lina Maria is working as knowledge management officer at Oxfam International in a regional project of sustainable food systems. During her free time she works as local correspondent in Colombia for an international organisation called Peace Direct, in a project focused to identify and mapping peace-building initiatives implemented at local level by civil society organisations in conflict areas around the globe.

Dr. '''Joshua Forstenzer''' is currently the Vice-Chancellor's Fellow for the Public Benefit of Higher Education at the University of Sheffield. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Politics and Philosophy (Hons.), his Master's in Political Theory (Distinction), and his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Sheffield. As a doctoral student, he led the Philosophy Department's outreach program, Philosophy in the City (from 2008 to 2010), served as Vice-President of United Nations Youth and Students Association (2009-10) and President of the University of Sheffield's Students' Union (2010/11).

During his term as President, in addition to overseeing the biggest students' union in England, he spearheaded major campaigns against the UK government's plans to increase tuition fees and reform student visas, successfully mobilising thousands of students and peacefully leading the largest wave of student protests outside of London in the fall of 2010. Since then, he has been an advisor to political candidates seeking municipal office in France and positions on the executive arm of the UK National Union of Students.

He now leads the Crick Centre's 'Youth Politics and Citizenship' research strand and works closely with the Vice-Chancellor's Office at the University of Sheffield on the notion of the Civic University.

Dr '''Nenad (Ned) Rava''' has spent 20 years in international development cooperation - out of which 15 years as consultant, advisor, expert, team leader and trainer/coach for governments, UN/UNDP, the World Bank, the EU, and bilateral and philanthropic development organization. He has provided support to 25 governments/public sector systems in areas primarily including democratic governance, strategic foresight, policy design, complex system change, institutional reform and innovation, and capacity development. Originally, he has served as local and national leader of AIESEC - global youth organization dedicated to peace and human development (also worked as organizer of the European Leadership Development seminar involving 44 countries).

Dr Rava has produced 30+ policy papers and analytical documents and 20+ change methodologies - and designed/implemented 50+ projects for complex contexts and with multidisciplinary / cross-sectoral orientation. He has created and delivered 45+ training programs, and has coordinated a large learning network of 300+ senior government official and civil society organizations (RCPAR), while also establishing several Communities of Practice. He has studied management, development policy, and comparative politics and got his PhD on democratization. He is proficient in English and Russian (native Serbo-Croatian) and is basic user of Spanish and French. She has been awarded by Colombian government with the Colfuturo Scholarship Program in 2011 and also was awarded by the British government with the Chevening scholarship programme in 2012. In 2015 she was awarded by the International Cooperation Agency of Korea –KOICA- as scholar in a short-time training course for the creation of self-reliant local communities.

During the last 8 years Lina Maria has worked in her country with different international organizations as well as governmental entities on issues related to human development, armed conflict, and inclusive economic development projects as peace-building mechanisms. Her experience as knowledge management specialist was obtained while she was working with the United Nations Development Programme at regional and national level, since where she contributed to develop methodologies, tools and strategies oriented to identify, disseminate and sharing knowledge around developmental and international cooperation areas and stakeholders.

At the present time Lina Maria is working as knowledge management officer at Oxfam International in a regional project of sustainable food systems. During her free time she works as local correspondent in Colombia for an international organisation called Peace Direct, in a project focused to identify and mapping peace-building initiatives implemented at local level by civil society organisations in conflict areas around the globe.

The Shadow Participants are probably the most important actors of the Reinventing Democracy in the Digital Era project, because they are the ones who will allow the project to scale-up and involve thousands. In the context of this project phase, funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF), there will be over 1000 Shadow Participants from across the globe sharing their ideas and views.
Shadow Participants are those individuals who are chosen by CoreParticipants to participate in virtual and or hybrid Regional SDDPs. Every Core Participant is required to carefully select and propose at least 10 young leaders and/or change makers to serve as Shadow Participants. Once entered into the program, Shadow Participants will have equal participation and their contributions will be given equal weights with regard to their impact in designing and delivering the final products.

Each Core Participant must propose at least 10 Shadow Participants.
